This release of the Employee Self-Service module includes a combination of enhancements to existing functionality and some new features. These features are all available as a free upgrades for ESS users.
An enhanced version of an existing feature, the new Absence Request tool is designed to improve the way the People Inc. system manages holiday requests.
Submitted via their Employee Self-Service account, employees can use this feature to request leave. They can also withdraw requests that they submitted at an earlier time (for a break they no longer want to take).
Managers can use the feature to monitor and approve absence requests. Departmental absence information is made available via a calendars view as part of this tool. This makes the review and approval of requests much quicker.
The ESS Scheduler tool is designed to consolidate a range of time-related employee information into a calendar view. Shown team by team (users can only see entries for their own ESS group), the scheduler can be used to help plan activities and ensure the staff are available for these.
Entries are displayed automatically in the Scheduler and these can include absence bookings, training courses, Action List entries, employment anniversary and both shift-pattern and hours worked from People Inc. time. A settings feature that disables different categories of entry is included with the tool.
Employees can see their own information (in a choice of calendar views: day, working week, week, month, timeline); managers can see information for employees in their team (in a timeline).
An updated version of an existing People Inc. tool, the new Employee Directory feature enables staff to look up employee contact details and availability via their PC or mobile phone. This is useful (for example) when they answer the phone and the call asks for one of their colleagues.
The cells are customisable; details on employees can include their phone number and e-mail, job details, department, location, and employee photo. This information is all taken directly from the records held within People Inc.
The availability of staff is updated in 2 ways. The system will use the employees’ work-pattern and their holiday and absence records to set the availability for employees at the start of each day. Employees can then update this information, for example they can say that they are working from home.
The People Inc. Statistics feature is an add-on that displays graphical view of key HR trends and information via the Employee Self-Service module. Sometimes referred to as a 'dashboard', this feature provides availability information, absence records, and some diversity analysis.
Available to ESS manager, the data shown is derived from data held in the People Inc. system. It provides a comparison of the figures for their team and the same figures for the whole organisation.
Note that panels within the feature are optional and can be enabled or disabled as required.
The new Employee Self-Service features are included as part of the latest version of the People Inc. system. This is available free-of-charge to all People Inc. Employee Self-Service users. Please contact our team on 01908 265111 to arrange an upgrade.
