Yes, this is a standard feature. The system will compare employee contractual hours against full time hours. The system keeps a complete employment history allowing FTE to change over time if hours change. The system then uses this information elsewhere, for example for allocating the correct leave entitlement.
Yes, this is standard functionality. Contractual hours are recorded against an employee’s job allowing past, present and future contractual hours to be saved. The system uses contractual hours when calculating FTE.
Yes, leave entitlements work with FTE; this can be based on days or full-time hours. The system can also ignore FTE when calculating leave entitlement. You can also mix and match with some leave entitlement using FTE and others not.

Employee Details

Full time equivalence is means of comparing the hours or days that an employee works with the standard hours or days of the company. An employee who works the standard number of hours at a company will have an FTE of 1.0 (100%), an employee working half the standard hours would have an FTE of 0.5 (50%). FTE is a useful tool in a number of calculations including how much leave entitlement a part time employee should be awarded, how much salary a part time employee should be awarded and how many full-time employees the company has.

The calculator below calculates FTE in two ways. One method calculates the number of days worked in the week against the standard number of days worked in the week. This calculation can be useful where an employee works a varying number of hours each day. The other method calculates the FTE as the contractual hours of the employee against the standard contractual hours of the company.
