Applicant

An applicant is a prospective employee who has applied for a job. Applicants make a submission in response to an advertised position directly or through a third party (such as recruitment service). This initial submission is evaluated, if successful at this stage the candidate can be invited to one or more interviews or be asked to complete a technical test. Ultimately, they may be shortlisted for the position and finally be made job offer.
