Clocking Terminal

A clocking terminal is used within time and attendance systems to capture the hours an employee works. Clocking terminals are typically linked to a central server which collects data from the clocks and synchronises the time across the system.

Clocking terminals can use a variety of technology to capture the identity of the person using them including biometrics and RFID media.

Clocking terminals an be fitted with relays and other accessories to allow their functionality to be extended; this is often seen where a time and attendance system also operates as an access control system.

A clocking terminal may be a physical device or can be represented through a software application or web page. It is possible for software terminals to be used within access control systems and requires additional layers of software to manage geolocation.
