Contractual Hours

The number of hours which an employer requires an employee to work.

The specific meaning of contractual hours may vary depending on the context. In general, contractual hours will refer to the number of working hours in a period (typically a week for an office worker).

It can also refer to the number of working hours in an individual working day. Where a worker exceeds these hours, they become entitled to an overtime entitlement of some form.
