Domain Name

On the internet a domain name is the address of a website (e.g. www.personnelsoftware.co.uk). Domain names are registered on DNS servers which link the name to the address of a particular machine.

Within computer networks domain names may be used to identify machines and as part of a user’s identity within an organisation.
