Employee shareholders are a class of worker in the UK. They must have an employment contract and own at least £2000 with of shares in the company.
Unlike workers which are classed as ‘employees’ and employee shareholder do not have the same rights. Notably their protection from unfair dismissal is reduced and they are not entitled to statutory redundancy pay.
