An ‘employee’ is a specific description of a type of worker within an organisation. Individuals classed as employees have all the employment rights as someone classed as a ‘worker’. In addition, an employee has additional rights including statutory sick pay, parental leave and notice periods. Some of these rights are conditional on the individual’s length of service.
Employee is also used casually to refer to anyone that regularly attends a work place irrespective of the specific arrangements between the organisation and the individual.
