Human resource information systems (HRIS) are used by human resource departments primarily for the purpose of data management. These systems also proved support for administration of common HR tasks.

HRM and HRIS systems are terms which are frequently used interchangeably. used strictly, HRM systems provide a greater range of functionality to more stakeholders within a company than an HRIS system.
