Line Manager

An employee’s direct superior is their line manager. It is usual for an employee to only have one line manager. A line manager is responsible for the monitoring and delivery of work items.

Line mangers are often delegated responsibility for HR functions such as leave management and performance reviews. They will typically manage these processes using a self-service system which feeds the information back to a central HR department.
