Specific roles with an organisation may require staff to complete a specific set of training courses in order that they can fulfil the requirements of the role to an acceptable standard. These mandatory courses can form part of competency management and are occasionally courses that all staff must complete.
A training management system must highlight where mandatory training has not been booked or completed. A compliance officer may need to see records from the system when validating an organisations certification. Within some industries an employee may not be able to perform certain pieces of work until they have completed all their mandatory training.
