An employee who adopts a child can be entitled to receive statutory adoption pay. This payment can also apply to surrogacy arrangements.
This type of leave function in a similar way to statutory maternity pay where the first 6 weeks are paid at 90% and the following weeks at the lower of 90% or a set rate.
