Statutory Maternity Pay
Employees in the UK are entitled to up to 39 weeks of statutory pay during maternity leave. There are eligibility conditions. Employees are paid at 90% of average weekly earnings in the first six weeks and then the lower of 90% of weekly earnings or a set rate for the following 33 weeks.
Statutory maternity pay typically starts at the same time as maternity leave (which has its own statutory rights associated with it.).
