Training Management

This is the process by which an organisation will track, schedule and promote knowledge and understanding within itself. Training management may be implemented in a variety of ways from Excel spreadsheets up to a bespoke learning management system (LMS).

Multiple processes within an organisation will feed into training management. An example of this will be through the identification of knowledge gaps during annual reviews. Another process that typically feeds into training management is the on boarding process. New starters will need to be trained in a variety of internal procedures and processes as part of their induction and their progress must be tracked and recorded.

Training management software will include the ability to manage courses and bookings. Within a human resource product, the data related to training will also be available through its reporting and data export features. The software will also provide some element of automation for workflows and allow the delegation of some tasks to line managers and training supervisors. As part of an integrated solution the training data becomes available for tasks such as succession planning.
