Unplanned Absence

Examples of unplanned absence are sickness and child care leave. The employee does not (typically) have the ability to provide any meaningful notice that such events will make them unavailable for work.

Unplanned leave impacts on an organisations productivity and causes disruption to the workforce. A company experiencing high levels of unplanned absences will likely have other cultural issues such as low moral or high levels of dissatisfaction amongst staff that need to be addressed.
