A ‘worker’ is a specific class of employed individual in the UK. Workers have a contract of employment (which may not be a written one), they are paid or rewarded in some way and they are not generally able to subcontract their work. The employer provides work for the duration of the period that the employee is employed and the employee is not working as part of their own limited company.
An employer typically had fewer responsibilities for individuals classed as workers than for those classed as ‘employee’.
